POSTPONED: Youth Week 2022 – Upcycling and restyling workshop

April 5, 2022 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Have fun upcycling and restyling your own clothes at this free workshop for young people.

Do you have clothes in your wardrobe that you love but never wear because they don’t quite fit, are torn or need some extra sparkle? Never fear, help is at hand at our free mending and upcycling workshop.

Our fashion experts will show you how to fix common problems such as clothes that are too big or too small, drooping hems, holes and stains, and how to add pockets and other details to liven up an outfit. BYO a couple of items you’d like to know how to repair, we’ll give you advice, and you’ll also get the chance to start repairing or upcycling an item during the workshop.

Open to young people 13-24 years of age from the Inner West. We encourage LGBTQ peeps to join us. This is a great opportunity to restyle and create an outfit for the Youth Week Queer Prom on Friday 8 April.

Facilitated by Ali and Chloe from Bell Street, which offers vintage, handmade and 2nd-hand clothing for hire and custom-made wedding dresses.

Light refreshments will be available.

Please let us know if you have any specific access requirements. The venue is wheelchair accessible.

A COVID-19 Safety Plan is in place for this event and we will adhere to any advice from NSW Health.

This free workshop is presented by the Green Living Centre, an initiative of Inner West Council. Priority will be given to Inner West residents. Search by address at the Office of Local Government website to find your local government area.

If you are not from the Inner West local government area please ask to be put on a waitlist. For this and any other questions email: education@greenlivingcentre.org.au or phone 02 9392 5054.
