Waste Free Kitchen Info Night
October 9, 2019 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
Are you a student or young person wanting to reduce food waste in your kitchen?Wasting food wastes money and a whole bunch of resources.
Inner West Council’s Green Living Centre is offering a free evening of information and advice to show you the culinary tricks of using up what’s in the fridge and cupboard.
Our expert chef from Cornersmith will demonstrate how to make delicious quick pickles and sauces from leftover vegetables, while saving money and reducing your food waste. Techniques demonstrated will include how to make a stock paste with odds and ends like carrot and celery tops, and how to make a delicious tired herb chimichurri sauce for salads, marinades and pastas. Our teacher will also share an array of waste hacks and once you see how easy it is, you will look at your kitchen scraps in a whole new light.
Cornersmith is a local business with cafes, a picklery and a cooking school. They believe in sustainable and ethical food production and up-skilling the community in how we can reduce food waste in our homes.
This workshop will be held at Pocket City Farms, an urban farm in Camperdown. Snacks will be available.
This workshop is designed for students and young people aged 18-30 years and is presented in conjunction with Waste Fighters Society at the University of Sydney.
This project is a NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy.
