Spring Talks: Australian Native Bees

November 27, 2021 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am

Explore the importance of native Australian bees in our urban environment and how to create a backyard haven for them.

This online talk will discuss our amazing native bees – we’ll cover the identification of different species, their habitat and behaviours.

Our native bees are often stingless and solitary. Others are social and you can set up a small hive for them in your garden. Native bees are great to have as part of your garden ecosystem as they are perfect pollinators for a variety of plants.

Join us to learn what native bees need, how to attract them to your garden and all about their lifecycles. Our local bee expert, Gavin Smith, has a wealth of knowledge to share and great stories to tell that are bound to teach you facts and get you excited about how you can support our native bees. You’ll have the opportunity to ask questions and you’ll leave knowing so much more about the bee species living in your local ecosystem.

Gavin is a member of the Amateur Beekeepers Association and is a dedicated educator and a committee member of the Sydney Bee Club and the Inner West Beekeepers.

This is a free event for residents of the Inner West local government area and priority will be given to Inner West residents. Search by address at the Office of Local Government website to find your local government area if you are unsure.

If you are not from the Inner West local government area please ask to be put on a waitlist. For this and any other questions email: education@greenlivingcentre.org.au or phone 02 9392 5054.
