Save Time, Save Food workshop 3 – Creative cooking and food storage hacks

October 11, 2022 @ 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Learn how to save time and save food in our series of three food waste avoidance workshops.

Have you ever bought a bunch of coriander for a recipe but can’t figure out what to do with the rest of it before it goes off? Food waste means throwing time and money in the bin and one of the easiest ways to avoid this is by knowing how to store ingredients properly.

Reducing household food waste is key to a sustainable kitchen, but getting through a whole bunch of celery or coming up with ways to use left overs can be overwhelming. Let Alex Elliott-Howery and Jaimee Edwards from Cornersmith show you quick and simple recipes to use up left overs. They’ll also share tips on how to use every part of whole vegetables (including the odds and ends that would usually end up in the bin) to maximise flavour and create delicious meals so nothing goes to waste! Learn storage tips, waste hacks and easy recipes that use up what you already have. You’ll enjoy a light meal and take home a jar of quick pickles to add to meals at home.

Come hungry and eat your way into new ways to use your leftovers. Coming to this workshop will also give you the chance to win 1 of 5 Cornersmith Use It All books.

This workshop is free of charge, but we do ask one small thing: please make sure you fill out this survey on your food habits before coming to the event (if you’ve already filled it out you don’t need to do it again). You’ll be helping us think of ways we can provide better food waste-related products and services back to the community. Please use the same email address to fill out the survey and register for the event.

Accessibility: If you have any access or support requirements to participate fully, please let us know. The venue is wheelchair accessible and has an accessible toilet and lift access to the library car park. A hearing loop is available.

This workshop is presented by Inner West Council. Entry is free for residents of the Inner West Council area and priority will be given to Inner West residents. If you are unsure you can search by address at the Office of Local Government website to find your local government area.

If you are not from the Inner West local government area please email to ask to be put on a waitlist. For this and any other questions please email education@greenlivingcentre.org.au or phone 0466 428 063.

This project is supported by the Environmental Trust as part of the NSW Environment Protection Authority’s Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy.
