It wasn’t long ago that the concept of electric vehicles (EVs) was a novelty, the vehicle for entrepreneurs, technocrats and those with higher-than-average disposable incomes. The fact is, not only is the future of the EV here, but the barriers that once existed to its mass adoption have mostly been addressed. Those barriers that still remain are rapidly diminishing: cost is being driven down by supply and demand, policies are in place to drastically decarbonise, battery innovation is exponential and governments all over the world are committing to EV roll-outs and largescale investment on charging infrastructure.

The presenter is Andrew Reddaway, a Senior Consultant with AEF, who has previously worked at Renew and the Australian Energy Market Operator. His projects have included detailed economic modelling of solar systems and efficient electric appliances. Andrew advises households on sustainability and has authored a series of discussion papers on the energy transition.
