Introduction to organic gardening

This workshop will include the core principles of organic gardening including soil building, plant selection, pest and disease management and garden maintenance. You’ll learn how to build and manage good organic soil, comprehend plants’ needs, and integrate them into a space to develop a successful environmentally friendly garden.
There will be a practical element to the workshop that includes propagating from seed and cuttings, and you’ll get the chance to explore the Marrickville West community garden including its composting systems.
This workshop is part of Urban Agriculture Month.
What to bring:
- Paper and pen to make notes
- Hat, suncream, closed shoes and own water bottle
- Cardboard boxes or other container suitable for transporting some plant goodies.
Suitable for:
- All ages
- Beginner to intermediate gardeners.

This free workshop is presented by the Green Living Centre, an initiative of Inner West Council. It is for residents of the Inner West local government area and priority will be given to Inner West residents. Search by address at the Office of Local Government website to find your local government area. If you are not from the Inner West local government area please ask to be put on a waitlist.
