GLC Upcycle your Jewellery workshop
May 22 @ 6:30 pm - 8:30 pmFree
We all have a favourite necklace or bracelet lying in pieces in the back of a drawer, or possibly two. Come to our Upcycle your Jewellery workshop and you’ll learn how to repair and revamp those broken items into new, loved items.
At the workshop you’ll learn:
skills in simple jewellery repair;
how to attach rings to connect chains, charms and extension chains; and
how to restring a beaded necklace or bracelet on flexible wire or hemp cord.
You’ll also take home handouts on the techniques you’ve learnt and how to care for your jewellery.
Each participant will have the opportunity to repair 2 necklaces and 1 bracelet, or 1 necklace and 3 bracelets. Sorry, no earrings at this workshop.
The workshop facilitator is Chris Smalley from Etelage. Chris is an experienced educator, designer, and sustainable stylist with a passion for sourcing vintage and handmade items from around the world and supporting artisan communities. She embraces the slow lifestyle movement, encouraging people to value the natural, handmade, and local.
Bring along a notebook, reading glasses and your broken necklaces and bracelets.
Please note that not all items you bring along will be able to be fixed.
Numbers are limited, so preference will be given to residents of the Inner West Council area.
