GLC Creative Mending
July 24 @ 6:00 pm - 8:00 pmFree
Would you like to learn how to repair your old and damaged clothes and give them a second life?
Come to our creative mending workshop to learn some quick and easy hand sewing and machine repair techniques.
In this introductory workshop you’ll learn how to work with buttons; to hem pants or sleeves; and to patch, darn and reinforce holes. You’ll learn both visible and invisible mending techniques and you’ll be able to experiment with an assortment of mending materials, needles and threads.
Please bring along a couple of garments that need simple mending. Keep in mind that some repair techniques require more time than this session will allow (eg. broken zippers can be very fiddly indeed).
The focus of the workshop is on sustainable practices in garment repair, reusing scrap fabrics and prolonging the life of your clothes, and even other textiles in your home.
As numbers are limited, this workshop is available to residents of the Inner West Council area. If you are not from the Inner West Council area please email email@example.com to be put on a waitlist.
