December 14 @ 10:30 am - 12:30 pmFree
We all love to give gifts during the festive season, but we don’t necessarily like all the paper and plastics involved in gift wrapping, which end up in the recycling or waste bin. The Japanese art of furoshiki allows you to avoid this waste by wrapping presents in reusable cloth.
At this hands-on workshop you’ll learn 8-10 different wrapping techniques using square fabric, including how to make bag. You’ll learn how to choose the correct fabric size for different shaped objects. You’ll leave the workshop with a piece of fabric to use, and instructions to follow at home.
Please bring some items to wrap, such as a wine bottle, orange, book or small box.
This workshop will be facilitated by Yoshie Kumagai, an experienced teacher in the arts of furoshiki and tenegui, who loves to connect Japanese and Australian cultures through her work.
