About this event: To celebrate International Compost Awareness Week, we’re running a Composting 101 with Community Gardens event.
Composting or worm farming is an easy way to radically reduce the amount of waste you send to landfill and composting turns food scraps into rich fertiliser for your garden. Visit one or more community gardens to check out different systems and hear from gardeners about their own experiences transforming organic waste into garden gold.
The event will showcase sustainable practices such as:
Schedule:
9:00 am – 10:00 am: Addison Road Community Garden, 142 Addison Rd, Marrickville NSW 2204 – Composting and worm farming workshop and garden tour
10:30 am – 11:30 am: Wilkins Green Community Garden, Corner Sydenham Road and Livingstone Road Marrickville NSW 2204 – Composting food scraps from cafes and with the community, and composting toilets. Morning tea will be provided here!
11:00 am – 12:00 pm: Denison Road Community Garden, 194 Denison Rd, Dulwich Hill NSW 2203 – Hands-on composting and worm farming family friendly activities.
Win a prize: For each Community Garden you visit on the day, go in the draw to win a composting prize. The more gardens you visit, the greater your chances of winning.

More information: This event is presented by Inner West Council. Entry is free for residents of the Inner West Council area and priority will be given to Inner West residents. If you are unsure you can search by address at the Office of Local Government website to find your local government area.
