A Sustainable Kitchen with Cornersmith
November 30 @ 10:00 am - 12:00 pmFree
This hands on workshop will focus on reducing household food waste. It’s all about using up what you have got and making the most of every ingredient before it ends up in the compost or bin.
We will show you how you make delicious quick pickles with that 1⁄4 cauliflower, two radishes or half an onion. We’ll also show you how to make a stock paste with all the odds and ends like carrot and celery tops.
Once you see how easy it is, you will look at your off-cuts and kitchen scraps in a different light. We will also discuss smarter shopping, better storage, and using up what you’ve already got before buying more.
Presented by Alex Elliott-Howery, founder of Cornersmith, a local business with a cafe, picklery and cooking school. Cornersmith believes in sustainable and ethical food production and up-skilling the community in how we can reduce food waste in our homes. Participants will need to bring an apron, paring knife and chopping board to the workshop and will be asked to complete a food waste diary for one week prior to the workshop and one week after the workshop.
As numbers are limited, this workshop is only available to residents of Inner West Council area. If you are from outside the Council area please email email@example.com to be put on a waitlist.
Please do not enrol if you have previously attended this workshop.
This project is a NSW EPA Waste Less, Recycle More initiative funded from the waste levy.
